How it works
From install to applied winner.
Three steps, no theme code, and nothing you cannot undo. Here is the whole journey, including what happens behind the scenes.
Install and switch on
Install Variantly, then enable the app embed in your theme editor. It is one toggle, and it works with any theme.
- No code to paste, no snippets to maintain
- Switching the embed off is the same toggle
- Your theme files are never edited
Launch a test
The wizard walks you through the whole setup, one decision at a time.
- Choose what to test: content, sections, images or a price
- Build version B alongside your original
- Pick who sees the test and how traffic is split
Apply the winner
Watch results in plain English. When the verdict is in, one click keeps the winning version.
- Pause or end a test at any time
- Roll back an applied winner in one click
- Every change is recorded in an audit trail
Behind the scenes
Nothing up our sleeves.
Testing tools ask for a lot of trust. Here is exactly what Variantly does with yours.
One assignment per shopper
A shopper is assigned a version once, then keeps it for the whole test, on every visit. Nobody flickers between versions.
Your store's own numbers
A web pixel records views and checkouts, and every order is matched to the version the shopper saw using your store's own order data.
Prices enforced at checkout
Price tests use Shopify's own discount system, so the price a shopper sees is exactly the price they are charged.
Fair comparisons
Verdicts report a chance to beat the original and a realistic range for the lift, never a bare yes or no.
Honest at low traffic
With less data, Variantly reads results more strictly and tells you plainly when it cannot conclude anything yet.
Everything reversible
The embed is one toggle in your theme editor. Applying a winner can be rolled back, and every change lands in an audit trail.
The words we use
Every metric, in plain English.
These five numbers are the whole vocabulary. If a verdict ever needs more explaining than this, we have failed.
Conversion rate
Out of every hundred visitors, how many bought.
Revenue per visitor
Sales divided by visitors. It rewards versions that sell more often, or at higher value.
Profit per visitor
What is left per visitor after product costs and any test discounts. The number that pays your bills.
Chance to beat A
How likely it is that the new version really is better than the original, rather than lucky.
Expected range
The realistic span of the lift, from cautious to optimistic. It narrows as the evidence grows.
See it on your own store.
